I still use completely different passwords (and a different email) on sites I do care about or that are important.
#Lifeboat hacks password#
In the event that a website has its database breached and passwords decrypted then leaked, if the password leaked follows this pattern, it can't used on another website unless the attacker knew this pattern. I started using this technique on junk sites or sites I don't visit that often since I got tired of memorizing different passwords for everything. However, if an attacker knows this pattern, then this technique would be useless. The idea is to memorize one or two passwords and change it for each site by writing the name of the site somewhere in the password for example, on reddit it might look like: I use the name of the website as part of the password, an attacker wouldn't be able to use the above password on any site other than reddit.
